About Us

For more than 35 years, Greenville Technical College has been the premiere source for business and industry education, training and consulting. This division of Greenville Tech was named the Buck Mickel Center in September of 2001 and serves as the Continuing Education Division of the college. The Center is named for Buck Mickel, a local as well as global business icon.

Mickel led Daniel Construction in becoming a major player in key projects worldwide. When the Fluor Corporation purchased Daniel Construction in 1977, he continued to serve as Daniel's chairman. He was later promoted to vice chairman of Fluor Corporation, a position he held until his retirement in 1987.

In addition to his major contributions in the business world, Mickel also made great contributions to the Greenville community. He was a key player in the revitalization of Downtown Greenville, the Bi-Lo Center, Peace Center for the Performing Arts, Heritage Green, the Governor's School for the Arts and the Southern Connector.

The Buck Mickel Center offers not-for-credit courses, training leading to certifications and licensure, and personal interest and enrichment classes. No college application is required and most courses have no prerequisites. CEUs (Continuing Education Units) are awarded for most Buck Mickel Center/Continuing Education courses at Greenville Tech. We offer more than 450 courses in 7 major areas of study, satisfying the needs of tens of thousands of Upstate residents.
